I've been hearing a bit about Artichoke Pizza over on 14th Street between 1st and 2nd Ave. I finally waited in line and tried a slice. A slice mind you is maybe 1/4 bigger then regular NY slices and the crust is thicker. It's a saucy pizza. One tilt and the sauce/toppings start sliding off.
After trying the $4 artichoke and spinach slice, I must say, I'm not a fan. It tasted like cream of spinach soup with artichoke, cheese and bread. Granted the crust tasted like Boudine's bread from back home (a plus) but would describing a pizza to taste like soup in a bread bowl be a good thing?
A passer-by asked if it was really the best pizza in New York. My response, no. Grimaldi's is still my top choice. Artichoke's artichoke and spinach slice was way too creamy but maybe I should give their other toppings a try. Crab sounds interesting. Maybe the margherita is the true test.

ouch - that's sounds like a big ole disappointment
awww v! i had a slice with jen yesterday. i have some leftovers. it's definitely a different type of pizza. you need to try difara in midwood, BK. THAT is the best pizza HANDS DOWN!
it is different which is fine but tasted too much like cream of spinach soup to me. i'd rather have it in soup form then on my pizza. yeah, i definitely want to try difara!
